Hello, my name is Ciprian, a student from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, currently performing a traineeship at Hochschule Darmstadt. As both universities are in the EuT+ alliance, I came into contact with students and teachers from Darmstadt in an Erasmus BIP project last year. As a result of our interaction, I made friends and discovered various features about studying at h_da, hoping that one day I might have this opportunity.
As you can see in the photo (taken in the 3D lab of Plastics Engineering), due to the decisive contribution of h_da (particularly Professor Brita Pyttel) and TUC-N staff, my desire has come true. Now I have been in Darmstadt for over a month, and I feel thankful and excited about my activity here. It essentially consists of 3D printing components of an assembly, a Microhybrid turbine, and I am part of a team including professors, collaborating engineers, and students. Not only has this experience allowed me to learn the basics of 3D printing, an indispensable tool for prototyping, but it has also provided me with fundamental knowledge of the working principle of gas turbines, how they are designed, developed, optimised, tested and manufactured, among other things. Besides the academic stuff, this Erasmus mobility has offered me the possibility to immerse myself in the German culture, history and language, through my everyday interaction with people and by travelling as well.
When it comes to the professional benefits of this traineeship, they are numerous. On one hand, it enables me to get a gist of how industrial processes happen from the concept stage to manufacturing. On the other hand, I have made contact with various companies and people from the technical field, with whom I can keep in touch afterward and, last but not least, I have improved my linguistic and teamwork skills, which play a major role in an engineer's career.
I can conclude by saying that, if you are looking for a place to carry out a traineeship, h_da would be a great choice for you, even more so if you are an Erasmus student.
